History
Rhodonite is a manganese silicate that comes in shades of pink with swirls of deep grey or black. With various proportions of iron, magnesium, and calcium, it consists of a triclinic crystal structure.
Its name comes from the Greek word, Rhodos, which means rose-colored. In 1790, in the Ural mountains in Russia, Rhodonite was first found. It’s nowadays found in India, Mexico, Sweden, Madagascar, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Canada, and the USA.
As Rhodonite helps one find a sense of well-being and relaxation, it also brings out the balance in one’s heart and personal relationships.
The black swirls in Rhodonite occur due to the various concentrations of Manganese oxide, which not only brings out its grounding properties, but aesthetic beauty as well. Like every pink crystal, Rhodonite deals with the matters surrounding the heart chakra but also heals issues of the root chakra to some extent.
